This is not a valuable antique, it's another curbside freebie project to fiddle with. Likely late 1920s based on design/carvings on the legs (now removed) and another piece (similar to a backsplash) that I've also removed.
The problem:
The drawer rails inside the cabinet seem level & there is no visible damage or wear.
Wear was on the drawer side bottoms that glide across the rails - they were no longer straight/level, and wore down into a curved center.
I replaced the bottoms with new "glides" (using same process as THIS).
Bottom drawer slides perfectly now. However, the top one slides nicely now, too, UNTIL I get to this "one" point in pushing the drawer in, and it then gets VERY tight and difficult to push in. The left edge of drawer front gets right up next to the frame, while the right side has space to spare.
Drawer measures square - corner to corner, front to back, side to side - except - the drawer-front end is slightly wider, about 4mm, than the back end.
The sides of the drawers are smooth & flat, with no dovetail protruding outward. The top left edge of the drawer front has an old repair (triangular piece replaced).
I've done a lot of research before coming here - and am not sure what needs to be done to bring the left side more to the right.
Hoping someone has experience with this! Thank you!
